Till recently it was known that Electronic Arts had received the exclusive rights to Star Wars titles but things seem different after some information disclosed at EA’s official site.
CEO of Electronic Arts Labels, Frank Gibeau stated on the website,
“Our E3 briefing… will be a showcase of next-generation games like Battlefield 4, Need for Speed, a full range of EA Sports games and a first look at our plans for the Star Wars partnership with Disney.”
He also wrote,
“Now that the Xbox One has been unveiled, there is so much more we want to show you – racing, RPGs and shooters that are going to astonish you with their graphic fidelity and connected features.”
“Finally, we can draw back the curtain and show you what we’ve been working on for Madden, FIFA, NBA LIVE, UFC, Battlefield, Need for Speed and other EA franchises.”
Even though EA claims to work with Disney, it is ready to make the most of it with some lucrative business plans for Star Wars.
FY 2014 will be packed for the American publisher/developer as they have a whole line of major game titles to release; 11 to be exact.
When the Xbox One was revealed a couple of days ago, EA also claimed that it is working in collaboration with Microsoft for bringing new Xbox One game titles.
That said EA has big plans for the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June. It’s worth mentioning that the company will open an EA DICE studio to work on Star Wars games and projects that are expected to release in FY 2014. The studio will be in Los Angeles, California.
