PC: Metro Last Light Crashes Etc Fixes

Most anticipated game title Metro: Last Light  is out now. Having trouble playing or starting Metro: Last Light due to errors and crashes? Say no to worries as this post will guide how you can fix different issues or crashes of this game.

Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows XP (32-Bit only), Vista, 7, or 8

  • Video Card: DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB, GeForce GTS 250, etc.)

  • Additional: Metro: Last Light utilizes NVIDIA 3D Vision with compatible cards and hardware.

Skipping Cinematic

Just go to the drive where you have installed Steam then: Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Metro Last Light \ &  find legal.ogv file and delete it.

 

Save Game Files Location

Your save files are located in My Document/4A Games/Metro LL

 

Configuration or CFG File Location

CFG or configuration file of the game is located in  C:\Users\”YOUR ACTIVE ACCOUNT NAME”\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro LL\user.cfg

 

Changing or Reducing DirectX

Metro Last Light is optimized for DirectX 11 and for higher end GPUs but you can run it in DirectX 9 or 10.

Just open your user.cfg file, search for the line r_api X, where X is value, change it to 0 digit for Dx-9, 1 for DX-10 and 2 for DX-11.

 

Low Performance for G-Series Keyboards

If you are experiencing low or laggy performance with G-Series keyboards then you have to kill a background process from Task Manager.

Just hit CTRL + SHIFT + ESC   & select LCore.exe and click on End Process.

 

Custom Resolution

Open your user.cfg and edit these lines:  r_res_hor xxxx and r_res_vert yyyy, change xxxx to horizontal and yyyy to vertical resolution. 

 

Game Stopped Working

Game stopped unexpectedly means you need to upgrade your GPU’s driver especially AMD users. For AMD users go to this link to download latest drivers.

 

Laggy Mouse Cursor

Close your game, unplug the mouse and plug it back in to other USB port and restart your system.

Game Freezing on loading etc

It may be due to corrupted save game files, delete it and simply open up your Steam client and verify the game cache from Steam.

 

d3dx9_27.dll Error

This is due to outdated DirectX files. Update your DirectX version to latest one from this link: Latest DirectX

 

msvcr71.dll, msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll Errors

This is due to missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 files.

Simple download the appropriate version from below:

Low FPS and Slow Performance

Turn off V-Sync setting from Graphic Options in the game.

    hey im facing with an issue of mouse and keyboard jst stops working as i run Metro LL, everything runs smoothly till i reach the page whr it has options to select “New Game” or “Continue”…etc…The mouse and keyboard just freezes, nothing happens…for quiting i have to directly close it by pressing Alt +F4….Infact facing this issue from the last time i tried playing, before that it was running smoothly
    I tried replacing “user.cfg” and also re-installing, but issue remains the same……Please help…
